All about Jane
Jane Goodall arrived in Africa in July of 1960 and remained there for a few years before returning to England to study at Cambridge University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Ethology. During her time at Cambridge Jane continued to travel back to Gombe, where she was photographed by Hugo Van Lawick for National Geographic. Jane and Hugo eventually got married and built the Gombe Stream Research Center, which continues to house researchers to this day.

Dr. Jane was born in April 1934, making her 82 years old, she spent most of her youth at her childhood home in Bournemouth known as the Birches. When Jane first arrived in Africa, at the age of 26, she had to be accompanied by her mother as the British authorities did not want a young girl alone in Africa.
